food ally eats

My little niece turned one this past weekend and the party was owl themed! I volunteered to make one of the cakes after finding a cute photo on tumblr. Mine is the one with white frosting, slivered almonds, and pecans. The inside of it was carrot cake and although sticking on each almond was a bit time consuming, the cake itself was very simple to make. The other cake with blue fondant and the adorable (and super delicious) owl cupcakes were made by my cousin and were total works of art! There was also an amazing spread for lunch and it was fun to spend the entire afternoon with my niece and the rest of my family :) :)
